West Virginia

The West Virginia University Public Interest Communication Research Lab (PIC Lab) brings nationally recognized expertise in translating community engagement, risk communication, and public health research into action. In partnership with Healthier Together, the lab helps strengthen local networks, build lasting listening infrastructure, and ensure community-led approaches are grounded in evidence supporting rural Appalachia.
West Virginia's close-knit communities are shaped by a strong sense of place, resilience, and local connection. Rural geography and longstanding health challenges can make access to care and reliable information more difficult, but communities have a rich tradition of neighbors supporting one another. Healthier Together builds on these trusted relationships to strengthen local networks and community-led health solutions.
